Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Chronic Pain
Participants learn the principles of mindfulness meditation, the importance of living in the moment, the power of now and how these relate to less suffering and less pain.
Mindfulness assists us to remain calmer and may help to change the intensity of pain suffering, both emotional and physical, in a positive way. These interventions help to develop an understanding of how stress and a sensitive nervous system can affect our pain and to learn strategies to manage pain better.
The interventions offered may vary in length and can be tailored to individual needs. They include:
- Tools to increase wise-mind and resilience
- Mindful movement
- Dialogue and discussions to gain insight and so develop individual pain management strategies
- Opportunities to enhance the mind-body connection, self-nurture and awareness
- Developing interpersonal relationship skills in a broad context
- Guided meditation recordings and home practice manuals enabling the development of daily practice
