Weaving Wisdom: Festival for Mindfulness Teachers

Saturday 20 September 2025, 14h00-18h30 CET
Online

Hosted by the Institute for Mindfulness South Africa (IMISA) and the European Associations for Mindfulness (eamba).

Join us where we will be weaving together trauma-informed practice, African indigenous wisdom, and embodied mindfulness to meet the needs of a diverse and evolving global mindfulness field.

The programme will include:

  • Simon Whitesman Explores the outcomes, learnings, and key recommendations from the “Sharing Mindfulness ” program, developed to meet the evolving needs of diverse communities in South Africa.
  • David Treleaven  Draws from his newly released Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Workbook offering insights into navigating trauma in mindfulness teaching.
  • Chris Germer and Susan Gitau An open-hearted dialogue on cultivating compassion and self-compassion in a complex world —in the face of trauma, injustice, and disconnection.
  • Gugulethu Mkandla An introduction into the wisdom of Ubuntu — “I am because we are”
  • Trish Bartley and Linda Kantor  An experiential guided journey through trauma-sensitive practices that support regulation, connection, including song, rhythm, breathwork and movement.
  • Breakout rooms to share stories of relationality, interconnectedness, interbeing and shared humanity, and how this mitigates the impact of trauma.
